KEAM 2012 FAQ PDF Print E-mail

FAQs related to KEAM 2012 are provided here for the immediate information of candidates.

1Q. How can I apply for KEAM 2012 ?

A. You have to apply online through www.cee.kerala.gov.in After submitting the application online including the payment details, the candidate has to take printout of the application. Affix a passport size (3.5 x 3.5 cm) photograph (this should be the copy of uploaded photo), get it attested by a Gazetted Officer or the Head of the Institution where the candidate has last studied. The applicant and the parent should sign in the specified areas on the printout of the Application. Get Course Certificate and Nativity Certificate in the prescribed format available in the body of the print out of the application. If the candidate claims any reservation, then download the relevant format(s) of the certificate(s) and get it certified from the concerned authorities.

2Q. What is the procedure for applying online ?

A.

  1. i.      First visit the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in and register.
  2. ii.      Note down the Application Number and remember the password.
  3. iii.      Login and give the details in the application carefully. Intermittently save the details which you have entered by clicking the 'Save' button. Fields marked in '*' are mandatory.
  4. iv.      After filling up all the required fields, make the final submission by clicking the 'Final Submission' button.
  5. v.      Next enter the payment details, ie. whether by Security Card or by Demand Draft.
  6. vi.      After this, take printout of the application.
  7. vii.      Affix a passport size (3.5 x 3.5 cm) photograph (this should be the copy of uploaded photo), get it attested by a Gazetted Officer or the Head of the Institution where the candidate has last studied. The applicant and the parent should sign in the specified areas on the printout of the Application.
  8. viii.      Get Course Certificate and Nativity Certificate in the prescribed format available in the body of the print out of the application.
  9. ix.      If the candidate claims any reservation, then download the relevant format(s) of the certificate(s) and get it certified from the concerned authorities.
  10. x.      Send all these documents to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, 5th Floor, Housing Board Buildings, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram - 695 001 so as to reach the office on or before 15-02-2012, 5 pm.

3Q. What is the age requirement to apply for KEAM Entrance Examination 2012 ?

A. Candidate should have reached 17 years of age as on 31.12.2012

4Q. Is there any upper age limit for applying for KEAM 2012 ?

A. No. There is no upper age limit for applying for KEAM 2012.

5Q. Which is the last date for submission of application ?

A. The printout of the application complete in all aspects along with the supporting documents should reach the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on or before 5 pm on 15.02.2012 by Hand delivery/Speed Post/Registered Post.

6Q. How can I pay the Application Fee ?

A. Application fee can be paid in either of the two ways viz. a) by Security Card which can be purchased from selected Post Offices; or b) by way of Demand Draft (DD) drawn on a Nationalised/Scheduled Bank, in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram. These details have to be entered in the Payment section of the online application.

7Q. What is the Cost of Security Card?

A.

  1. Rs.700/- for General Candidates.
  2. Rs.350/- for SC/ST candidates
  3. Free of cost Security Card to ST candidates whose annual family income is below Rs.40,000/- from the ST Development Department
  4. Rs.10000/- extra for those opting DUBAI as centre of exam. This fee should be paid as Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.

8Q. How many Application forms should I submit if I wish to appear for Engineering, Medical entrance examinations and also wish to be considered for Architecture course ?

A. One candidate need submit only one application.  The candidate can opt Engineering, Medical and Architecture (which ever he/she wishes to opt) in that application itself.  If you send more than one application, all the applications send by the candidate is likely to be rejected.

9Q. Is there any concession in application fee for women candidates as in the case of All India Entrance Examination?

A. No.

10Q. In which all places do the KEAM 2012 examination be held ?

A. Entrance Examinations will be conducted at district centres at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod, New Delhi and Dubai.

11Q. Can I change the centre of the entrance examination ?

A. No. Once you have selected the examination centre, it is not possible to change the centre.

12Q. When will the KEAM 2012 entrance examination be held ?

A. The Engineering & Medical Entrance examination shall be held as per the table given below.

13Q. I have passed +2.  Should I obtain course certificate in the printout of application ?

A. All candidates who have passed +2 or equivalent can attach a self attested copy of their pass certificate and mark list of the said examination instead of course certificate. All candidates who have just appeared for the +2 or equivalent examinations and awaiting results should submit the course certificate in the body of the application itself, otherwise it is liable to be rejected.

14Q. What are the certificates that must be submitted to prove nativity?

A. Candidates can submit any one of the following documents/certificates for satisfying their nativity requirements.

Certificate 13.1(a).  Certificate of Birth/Residence. This certificate has to be obtained in the application itself.

Certificate 13.1(b).  Certificate showing school studies in Kerala from standards 8 to 12. This certificate has to be obtained in the application itself.

Certificate 13.1(c)(i).  True copy of relevant page of SSLC of the candidate showing his/her place of birth in Kerala. Self attested copy of this certificate has to be attached separately.

Certificate 13.1(c)(ii).  True copy of relevant page of SSLC of the candidate’s Father/Mother showing his/her place of birth in Kerala with corroborative evidence showing relationship between candidate and the parent. Self attested copies of these certificates have to be attached separately.

Certificate 13.1(c)(iii).  True copy of the relevant page of the passport of the candidate, issued by Govt. of India, showing place of birth in Kerala  or of either of the parents of the candidate showing place of birth in Kerala with corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the candidate and the parent. Self attested copies of these certificates have to be attached separately.

Certificate 13.1(c)(iv).  A certificate of birth from the authority certificate of candidate or his/her, father/mother showing the place of birth in Kerala with corroborative evidence showing the relationship between the candidate and the person (father or mother) whose certificate has been produced. Self attested copies of these certificates have to be attached separately.

15Q. Whether income certificates obtained from other States in India accepted?

A. No.  Income certificate obtained from a competent revenue authority in Kerala alone is accepted for the limited purpose of KEAM 2012.

16Q. How and when to apply for NATA examination?

A. Information regarding NATA 2012 will be available at http://www.nata.in from February 2012.

17Q. Is there any relevance in attaching the Income certificates for Other General candidates/SEBC candidates whose annual family income exceeds 4.5 lakhs.

A. For all cases other than fixing SEBC reservations where income is a criteria, the certificate if obtained may become useful in future.

18Q. I belong to OE category, but my annual family income exceeds 4.5 lakh.  Are there any fee benefits for such candidates?

A. Yes.  But such candidates are not eligible for any communal reservations.  They should submit community certificate to get fee concession benefits.

19Q. I have my caste noted as ‘Nair’ in my 10th Standard certificate.  I am actually an inter-caste candidate (Ezhava & Nair).  The Village Officer rejected my application for a certificate showing that I am a child of inter-caste married couple since the marriage was not registered.  What am I to do to avail Ezhava reservation.

A. The CEE is permitting reservation status in the case of inter-caste married couple, only on the basis of valid inter-caste marriage certificate obtained from the competent authorities and based on the claim of the candidate. Income certificate is not essential in this case.

20Q. What do you mean by OCI / PIO ?

A. OCI – Overseas Citizen of India
PIO – Persons of Indian Origin
OCI and PIO issued by Govt. of India alone will be considered.

21Q. How will I get the Admit Card for the Entrance Examination ?

A. The Admit Card has to be downloaded from the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in from 24.03.2012 onwards. Candidates whose application has been accepted shall enter their  Application Number and Date of Birth  as already given in the Application form on the webpage for downloading the admit card. The printout of the admit card thus obtained will have to be produced at the time of examination.

22Q. Will Admit card be sent to me by post ?

A. No. Admit cards will not be sent by post from this office to the candidate. The Admit cards have to be downloaded by the candidate.

23Q. I belong to Non-Keralite Category-II. Am I eligible to get admission to MBBS in any of the Medical colleges in Kerala ?

A. No. Non-Keralite Category-II candidates are only eligible for admission to Engineering courses in Management quota seats in Govt. Controlled Self financing Engineering colleges and Government seats in Private Self financing Engineering Colleges.

24Q. For claiming reservation under Scouts & Guides quota, what all certificates should I submit along with the application ?

A. Two seats are reserved for Rashtrapathi Scouts and Guides for Engineering courses. Candidates seeking reservation under this quota should attach copy of the Rashtrapathi Guide Certificate signed by the President of India. In the absence of this Certificate, Specimen Certificate signed by the Director of Public Instructions (DPI), Kerala and the State Secretary, Kerala State Bharat Scouts and Guides, will be considered.

25Q. I am a General Candidate who belongs to Brahmin community. Is it necessary that I should sumbit the Income certificate ?

A. Those who wish to avail the benefits such as fee concession/scholarships that may be notified by the Government or college authorities subsequently, based on annual family income, should furnish the Income Certificate along with the application.

26Q. What should I do for claiming reservation under Sports quota ?

A. Candidates who claim reservation under Sports Quota shall fulfill their eligibility based on the norms of Kerala State Sports Council appended in Annexure XVIII (ii) prior to submission of application, for the seats as prescribed in the Prospectus. The candidate should forward the original application form to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, and a photocopy of the application to the Secretary, Kerala State Sports Council, Thiruvananthapuram-695001.

27Q. I am an NCC cadet and I wish to be considered for admission under NCC quota. What should I do ?

A. The candidates seeking admission under the NCC quota should forward the original application form to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, and a photocopy of the application to the Deputy Director General, NCC (Kerala), PB No.2212, Thiruvananthapuram-695010 through the respective NCC Unit Officers where the candidates have been enrolled as cadets, before 15-02-2012.
